OK. let me clarify one point. My brother lives in a different house further away from me. Shugo chara episode 52. I have the Dell Dimension right now at my house trying to get it updated, it had a virus and system was reloaded. But it only had SP1. I know it would take forever to upload and update the machine via dial-up and the disk he got from the ISP did not recognize IE6.
So, to help my brother, I brought the computer to my house as I have a DSL network and I was going to network it and then do the automatic updates to update the system here and then return it to him. However, I could not get the computer to communicate with my network.

OK, this makes more sense to me; thanks for clarifying.
In the meantime, I have downloaded SP2, SP3 (still need to install this one as per above) and IE8 from the MS website. I have updated the computer but still can't get it to communicate with my network. And so that is why I was asking about the modem ISP connection. I was thinking of just updating with SP3 and then shipping it back to his house and let him try the ISP software. It might just get him going.

I believe sp3 includes a newer IE but I'm not sure.
Anyway, if you want to you can download some of the updates, then copy them to the dell.
1. Go to a computer that can get on the internet.
2. Download the updates to the hard drive.
3. Copy the updates to the dell via flash drive, cd, dvd, etc.
